Our Hospital Stay

Boy, oh boy! Going to the hospital with a child is NO fun. It all started with a small complaint of a tummy ache. Then a fever. Then doubled over pain in the belly. Poor boy. Luke was admitted to the hospital on Sunday November 4th. His appendix ruptured, which caused an abscess. He was a very sick little boy. He was sedated twice. The first time to put in a picc line into his little arm and then the second time, to put a drain into his belly. They needed to drain out the abscess infection. His temperature got up to 105.5 in the hospital. (Scared the crap out if mommy!) Hence, the drain. His little body couldn't fight all that infection. We got home on Thursday November 9th. Luke is doing so much better and is running around wild again. I am amazed at a child's ability to bounce back. I am also amazed and so grateful to a couple of very sweet nurses that took such good care of Luke. He was such a brave boy for all of the poking and prodding that went on. I am very grateful to all of our family and friends that supported us with prayers, meals and just being there. It means the world to us. Thank you all! Luke still has to have surgery, in about mid December. They want things to settle down and heal before they take his ruptured appendix out. Enjoy the pictures of Luke's hospital adventure!

Poor Luke! We are so glad we got to see you last week and so happy he is doing much better. The surgery will be a walk in the park for that strong boy.
